In Memoriam - James Eugene "Gene" Justice '54

German Club alumnus James Eugene "Gene" Justice passed away on the morning of November 4th.

Gene graduated from Virginia Tech in 1954 with a degree in Business Administration from the Pamplin College of Business. As a student, Gene was elected president of the German Club and served in leadership roles for several other student organizations, including as chair of the Ring Dance Coordinating Committee.

As an alumnus, Gene remained heavily committed to the success of Virginia Tech and the German Club. He served on the Pamplin College Advisory Council for many years, including as president from 1996-1997. He was an early member of the German Club Alumni Foundation's Board of Directors, serving for 14 years, including as president from 1988-1993, and later chairman from 1996-1999.  In 2004, Virginia Tech named Gene an Alumni Distinguished Service Award winner, an honor recognizing outstanding service and support on behalf of the university. For his conspicuous and dedicated service to the German Club, Alumni Foundation, and university, Gene was inducted into the Melville L. Jeffries Society.

Gene will be remembered as a true German Club Man who carried a lifelong passion for service. The German Club Alumni Foundation sends its deepest condolences to Gene's family and friends.
